Hospice Tairāwhiti offers social work support and bereavement care and volunteer support to patients and their family/whānau and friends who have been involved with Hospice Tairāwhiti.
As part of the wider services offered by Hospice Tairāwhiti the Family/Whānau support services are provided free of charge.
Social Work Support – Our social worker works alongside people, other professionals, agencies and organisations in our community to bring a psychosocial care perspective.
Counselling conversations offer people time, space and companionship to talk over any concerns with a trained professional.
Bereavement support is offered to families after the death of a loved one. We hold a ‘Time to Remember’ service once a year and offer support groups throughout the year.
- Individual visits – we are available to meet you in your home or at our rooms on the Gisborne Hospital campus.
- Korowai Programme – is a support group that meets regularly. The programme is very informal where people can share their experiences and what works and doesn’t work for them.
- Time to Remember – held each year in May to remember and celebrate the lives of those who have died.
