I am a born and bred Gisborne local, having lived further afield I returned to Gisborne in 2010. I completed my Bachelor of Social work later in life with the intention to pursue work in palliative care. Prior to my role at Hospice I worked in our local Oncology service, which provided me with a foundation of understanding and appreciation for the journey many of our patients have traversed. My role as Family support coordinator allows me to support the holistic impacts of dying for patients and whanau as they navigate systems, psychosocial issues and grief and loss.
